Black History Music
I first heard Rock Steady and Reggae when I was 10 years of age,in 1968,tunes like,Hold Me Tight.Johnny Nash,Israelites,Desmond Dekker and his Aces,Long Shot Kick the Bucket,Pioneers. I was instantly hooked, the beat was so worm and easy to dance to, in them times there was record shops everywhere.as months and years passed I being fascinated with the music,I would be collecting from shops using the last of my pocket money to make sure I didn’t leave a tune behind.often having to walk home having spent every last shilling on vinyl 7”s. I was now becoming a source of attention at school and youth clubs alike.quote, Dale has some of that reggae and soul, invite him to the party and tell him to bring his records.that was a brief of how it started.progressing now after my apprenticeship, I went to Harlesden to continue my pursuit of the music I loved, only to find 7”s had become 12”s .disappointed though I was, I discovered re issues of originals in 7”format ,so being in my element, purchasing originals and presses I still to date pick a tune .and so happy to share my love on air ( line )..with whom wants to skank to this riddim..with Duke Dale’s Dub Basket on RG2 radio,Monday afternoon overhang.
